Cookies

This site uses one analytics tool — Google Analytics — and it does not load until you agree to it. There is no advertising, no tracking pixels and no embedded third-party content.

What we ask you

On your first visit a question appears at the foot of the screen asking whether we may count the visit. Both answers are equally easy — one button each — and refusing changes nothing about how the site works.

Until you say yes, nothing is sent to Google: no script, no request, no cookie. If you say no, nothing is sent either, and we do not ask again.

You can change your mind whenever you like — the “Change your analytics choice” link at the foot of every page reopens the same question.

If you agree

Google Analytics 4 loads. It sets its own cookies in your browser — usually two, which it uses to tell one visit from another — and sends Google the pages you opened, your approximate location from your IP address, and your device type. We do not pass it your name, telephone number or email, and Google truncates the IP address.

We use this for one thing: to see which routes people actually read, so we know which pages to write next.

What we do not use

  • No advertising or tracking pixels — not Google’s, not Facebook’s, not anyone’s.
  • No embedded maps, videos or social buttons. The fonts are served from our own server.
  • We do not sell data, and we do not use it for profiling or advertising.
  • There are no adverts on this site, so there are no advertising cookies.

What is stored whatever you answer

Your answer itself. It is kept in your browser — in local storage rather than a cookie — so that we do not ask you again. That is strictly necessary in order to remember your choice, and it is never sent anywhere.

The site runs on WordPress, which sets a cookie only when somebody logs in to administer it. That is us, not you.

Server logs

Like any website, our hosting keeps a technical log of requests: IP address, time and the page loaded. Those records exist for security and fault-finding, are kept briefly by the provider, and are not used to analyse behaviour.

What you type into the booking form

That is a different matter, and it is described in the privacy notice.
